The advantage of Invisalign® treatment at Gilleran and Van Fossen Cosmetic Dentistry

Part of what makes Invisalign "work" is that it's customizable for pretty much anyone. To find out if you are the right candidate for Invisalign treatment, the first thing we do is to take an impression of your teeth as they are now and digitize it. Using special software, we look at the current positioning of your teeth and compare it to the way your teeth should look.

Next Drs. Gilleran and Van Fossen use special software to map out the exact path your teeth will take from the beginning of your treatment to the end. Based on the results, a set of custom aligners are created just for your teeth. Throughout the course of treatment, you will be required to wear these clear, removable aligners one at a time; each one moving your teeth closer and closer to their final, perfectly aligned position. And since the aligners are virtually invisible, nobody around you will even know you are wearing braces!

Meet Dr. Van Fossen

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Van Fossen spent her four years of dental school at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland, which is the WORLD's first dental institution. Dentistry was always a logical career choice for Dr. Van Fossen because it enabled her to put her ability to ‘tinker’ to good use.

In 2003, Dr. Van Fossen was accepted into the 12 month post-doctoral general practice residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. During that year she met two people who would forever connect her to Chicago. The first was the man who’d become her husband, Kirk. He is a native Chicagoan and life-long Chicago sports fan. The second was Dr. Gilleran. Dr. Van Fossen was struck by Dr. Gilleran’s professional integrity and the quality of her practice, and knew immediately she wanted to be a part of Dr. Gilleran’s office.

Dr. Van Fossen’s patient care style includes creating a relaxing, comfortable and often fun atmosphere for patients. Nothing puts a smile on her face quicker than when a patient sits up at the end of an appointment and says, “that was painless” or “so much easier than I expected.” With the technological advances of today, there are very few reasons for patients to be uncomfortable. Dr. Van Fossen thoroughly enjoys her job and strives to ensure each patient’s experience is a positive one.
